Re: Rich D - 2011 carvings

Good photo tips, thanks! The last couple have been from my cell phone, just because it is easier to get them to the web. I have a mini tripod that is designed for tabletop use... I'll have to dig it out.

Re: Rich D - 2011 carvings

Here's my first attempt at a shaded pumpkin using a dremel. It needs some touch up work, but overall I'm pleased with my first attempt. I did most of the shading with drill bits and used diamond burr bits for the tight areas and smoothing out.

Re: small earthquake on East Cost

I was attending a meeting in a conference room located in the front of our building, right over the entry way. We thought the building had been hit by a truck. No damage, but the whole building shook.

Displaying and storing your foam kins

For those of you that carve foamies - Do you display them the whole Halloween season? I have around 20 carved foamies now and I typically only display them Halloween night, bringing them back in after the trick or treating is done. I live in an out of the way neighborhood and don't have an issue wit...

Re: Marsha 2011

Looks great! I'm working on my first shaded pumpkin and was wondering about how much to shave off. It's helpful to see the difference.

I'll remember the tip to shade in the dark!

Re: Rich D - 2011 carvings

Thanks for the tips everyone. I'm sure that I'll eventually upgrade but for the amount of carving I do, the stylus model works great.

Re: Rich D - 2011 carvings

Thanks! I borrowed a standard corded dremel and hated it. I just couldn't control it. Last week, I was at Busy Beaver (local hardware chain) and they had a cordless stylus model made by Genesis. It felt a lot better and was only $30 so I bought it. I'm working on your free Jareth pattern now and rea...

Rich D - 2011 carvings - Updated with 2012 carves.

Here's my first carving of the season. It was done with x-acto blades only. This one convinced me I needed to switch to the Dremel.
