That is where you are very lucky in terms of insulation material costs compared to we brits!luckdragon wrote:for me.. I'm trying to find a projector that will "withstand the elements" even if I put it in some kind of enclosure, it's still going to have to put up with the cold..
if you grab some foil faced insulation board, & make a small box to go round the unit heat will pretty much look after itself, ..tape up the sides with insulation foil tape so it's as air tight as possible, then where the vent is have a vent, but stick a scrap of tyvek there to keep moisture out, the insulation will be something you can monitor with a sensor / stick your hand into & gauge a few nights before by running it outside to be sure of any adjustments.
by insulating it properly it should totally look after itself heat-wise without a problem (but it does need an air vent, even if it's an led bulb).
Don't worry about it getting cold, worry about it getting too warm, thats the reality, a test run should cure that easily as air flow is adjustable.

Next gen for home haunters, ...possibly too graphic for sensitive (why are they out then)!? types.
What do you think of this, nice tie in with trick r treat franchise

Just bought this the other day, good enough for basic gaming (stuck some weed control fabric up as light blocking fabric).
Good enough for shorter throw animations, kids room on the Xbox (etc) too
Has image reverse! ...perfect for basic imagery.

Amazon prime day, bought another cheapy, the dvds will cost more than the unit
the unit description claims to be 120 lumens ..thats got to be erroneous, we shall see, bearing in mind how cheap led bulbs are.

oooh, BAD SCARE!!!! ..AVOID >>>>
Wall wart ran HOT straight out of box.
checked image via HDMI to xbox 360, looked at the various tiles on the screen, really sharp edges, picture changed & the lens needed refocussing, that is not what you want! (it wasn't my eyes)
less than 10 minutes operating time & it was re-packed for a return!
Would not deem this unit suitable for non demanding halloween images...

So today, after much demurring from my daughter I got her to mount a wall bracket for her projector, which "hopefully" will be able to short throw satisfactorily to the window again this Halloween, just got to get a few more cheap samples cos last years material was ****awful for transparent effect may jut resort to a sheet this year like downstairs.
May have to put the big eye in window number 3 this year, insisting on a fortnights advance planning for bedroom windows cos it gets frantic with carving... remind me of this nearer the time least I stray!
